About OPD
A women-founded movement for peace and development.
Organization for Peace and Development (OPD) was founded in 2021 by a group of Afghan women activists determined to upgrade their communities through advocacy, education, livelihoods and peace building.
OPD is a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization headquartered in Asadabad, Kunar, and registered with the Ministry of Economy of Afghanistan under Registration No. 5238 on 13 July 2021. Since inception, OPD has worked with communities across Kunar, Nuristan, Nangarhar, Samangan and Jawzjan on humanitarian and development interventions.
OPD was born from a simple realization: in many districts of Kunar and across Afghanistan, humanitarian work had become inconsistent and women's participation remained sharply limited. A group of women activists came together to fill that gap — to advocate, to mobilize, and to deliver programs that respond to the real needs of children, youth and women.
Today OPD delivers eight thematic programs — Women Empowerment, Informal Education, Health, WASH, Environment, Child Protection, Peace Building, and Advocacy & Human Rights — in partnership with UNDP, UN Women, the Czech Embassy and grassroots networks.

Work for the development and empowerment of socio-economically disadvantaged and vulnerable people — especially women — and assist them in addressing poverty-linked issues.
